The Knights of Columbus Council 10517 working hand-in-hand with various volunteers, took down the veterans banners for the winter.
Today, November 19, 2024, before the crack 'o' dawn, a group of Brothers and other volunteers met to take down the Santa Fe Heroes banners for the winter season. (Winter is too brutal on the material to keep them up all year.)
This year, the Knights of Columbus Council 10517, took over the program instituted by years ago by a local veterans organization.
In the spring, we will install the banners again. There will be some new spots opening up so we will announce the procedure for getting on the waiting list in the next few weeks.
We could not have done this without the assistance of the following people, organizations and businesses. (It is a true labor of love to honor our veterans.)
Coates Tree Service, Comcast, Southwest Fire Defense,Santa Fe County, Allegra Marketing print and mail.Desert Tees & Sports and Late Nite Grafix.
Special Thank you to:
AAA Self Storage for storing the banners not picked up, City of Santa Fe, Don Christy, Carol Yardman-Rideout,The Santa Fe New Mexican and reporter Carina Julig.
