SUMMARY:St. Joseph Altar at Santa Maria de la Paz Catholic Community
DESCRIPTION:Last Year’s Altar was a great success!\nWe would like this year’s Altar to be even more successful.\nPlease join us!\nPlease inform your friends and relatives from our parish about this event. If they can’t help with the organizing process we can use their help in providing items to decorate the altar.\nStatues of St. Joseph (San José) are especially welcomed as are statues of the Holy Family\, Mother Mary and Jesus. At this time we also honor our deceased family and friends so photographs of deceased ones are also welcomed. Be sure to mark those items you want returned. As St. Joseph was a carpenter\, items used in carpentry are welcomed\, especially if they are constructed from baked bread such as hammers\, saws\, ladders\, nails\, and then crosses\, sandals\, fish\, etc.\nDrop them off at the parish the week of March 19. \nA basket for donations for our SMDLP Food Pantry run by Bernadette Bach will be on the altar as will a basket for intentions. \nFresh food such as bright raw peppers (Chile peppers too)\, oranges\, grapes\, artichokes\, fennel\, onions\, garlic\, apples and pears are traditionally found on the altar as is a bowl of dried fava beans. Lillies and palms typically are used to decorate the altar. \nWe will hope everyone will contribute to our potluck on March 21 after the 5pm Mass. Remember\, it is the Lenten Season. \nThere will be 300 packets ready with a St. Joseph medal\, a St. Joseph prayer card and three fava beans (first come\, first served).\nThere will also be a jar of fava beans on the altar too. You can’t forget the fava beans! \nSchedule for our Altar\nThe tentative dates are:\nBefore March 17 (TBD) Assemble prayer packets with three Fava Beans\, A St. Joseph Medal and a St. Joseph Prayer Card\nMarch 17-18 Set Up The Altar (Decorate the altar with food\, bread in the shape of St. Joseph tools and religious items)\nMarch 19-22 Altar is up for all Masses\nMarch 21 Altar is blessed as is Prayer Packets and Potluck after 5pm Mass\nMarch 23-24 Altar is taken down \nCan use help:\nDecorating the altar\nReceiving potluck dishes before and during Mass\nSetting up tables outside the kitchen for the potluck\nHelping serve during the potluck\nHelping to clean up after the potluck\nBreaking down the altar \nPeace\, Blessings and Viva San José!

SUMMARY:Mass on the Mountain
DESCRIPTION:Mass on the Mountain brings parishioners closer to God \nThe purpose of the event is for us to pray over the Santa Fe Valley\, New Mexico and all the Americas (from the Lookout at the Santa Fe ski base and you can see the Sandia’s\, the Jemez and the Sangre de Cristo mountains\, Santa Fe\, Los Alamos and Espanola. \nJust as Abraham\, Isaac\, Moses\, Elijah\, and Jesus all climbed mountains to meet God. You can do the same\, every year at 10 AM\, the second Saturday of October. \n“Mass on the Mountain” is a beautiful and uplifting experience. “Just as Jesus would climb a mountain to pray\, we are doing the same to keep following His journey in ourselves. Those who have attended the event said they enjoyed being closer to God and nature. As you drive up the mountain leaving Santa Fe at 8:30 AM the sun is behind the mountain and people start gathering around 9:30 AM before the sun starts piercing through the aspens. By the offertory and the consecration the sun has warmed everyone with his rays. After mass many take the ski lifts to the top of the mountain and get a breath of fresh air as they see breathtaking views of God’s creation. Many come back year to year to attend another “Mass on the Mountain”. \nMass on the Mountain started in 2018 by Fr Michael Niemczak and the Knights of Santa Maria de la Paz\, Fr Michael had said mass with his youth group from Albuquerque’s in the past before being asked to say mass in the Santa Fe Mountains. Fr Rob Yaksich 2019\, Fr Joel O Burgas 2020\, Fr Jordan Sanchez 2021\, Fr DJ Segura 2022\, Fr Benny Sebastian 2023\, Fr Adrian Sisneros 2024\, and now Fr Kevin Obiesi 2025 are the priests who have taken the hike to say mass in the cathedral of aspens. \nThis year the event is SCHEDULED to be at 10 AM October 11th\, 2025 at the Lookout at the end of State Road 475\, just before the Santa Fe Ski basin. See flyer.\nRemember\, the ski lifts are running this weekend because the aspens are in full color. You can make this an all-day event enjoying God’s creation. \nPlease pray that we may have a religious\, holy experience.

SUMMARY:Mass on the Mountain 2023
DESCRIPTION:Mass on the Mountain is the second Saturday of October every year at 10 AM\, located at the Lookout on State Road 475 (Hyde Park Rd) between Aspen Vista Picnic Grounds & Ski Santa Fe. \nDress warm and bring your own lawn chair. \nFather Benny Sebastian CST\, Ministerial Assistant of SMDLP will be saying the Mass on the Mountain on October 14th at 10 AM at the Lookout which is a half mile below Ski Santa Fe. \nEven though the morning starts out cold\, it’s a wonderful experience to have a Mass said in the God-created cathedral with the aspens bowing in reverence to our Lord Jesus Christ. It is a blessing to see our prayers reaching heaven through the clouds during the consecration of the Mass\, it not only engulfs our spirit like angels\, descending and ascending in the sun’s rays which are shining upon the Lamb on the Altar of Sacrifice. The sun warms our body and God warms our hearts with love knowing our hope is not disappointed as we pray over Santa Fe. \nPlease pray that we may have a religious\, holy experience.

If you took all of the good works done by all of the humans who have ever lived in all of history and stacked them all up and multiplied them by a million\, they wouldn’t equal the merit\, the virtue\, and the worth of one Mass. The Eucharistic sacrifice is Christ’s infinite merit\, infinite value.” – St Teresa of Avila \nTo download the entry form\, please click here. \nand email it to kofc10517@gmail.com\nFor more information contact Richard Martinez\,\nGrand Knight at kofc10517@gmail.com

SUMMARY:40 Days For Life
DESCRIPTION:Dear Parishioners\,                                                                                          September 20\, 2020  \nOn Thursday September 24th we will begin a prayer marathon that will last 40 days. It will go on till the day before the election ending on November 2. The focus of these 40 days is to pray for our Nation and to pray for the end of abortion\, which the U.S. Catholic Bishops Conference (USCCB) and singled out as the Preeminent issue facing Catholic Voters. “The threat of abortion remains our preeminent priority because it directly attacks life itself\, because it takes place within the sanctuary of the family\, and because of the number of lives destroyed\,”(USCCB) Meaning that it is an issue that should be reconsider more urgent than the others.  \nStarting Thursday September 24th 5:00 pm\, and every afternoon till November 2\, we will gather in the church and dedicate a half hour of prayer that will include praying the most holy rosary for the unborn and for our Nation. I invite you to join us at the church or at home with your family. \nWith Christ’s love and Peace                                                                                                                  \nRev.
