Attending Mass on the Mountain brings a person closer to God.

This year the event was scheduled at 10 AM October 12, 2024 at the Lookout at the end of State Road 475, just before the Santa Fe Ski basin.

The purpose of our event is for us to pray over the Santa Fe Valley and all New Mexico (from the Lookout at the Santa Fe ski base and you can see the Sandia, Jemez and the Sangre de Cristo mountains, Los Alamos, Espanola, and Santa Fe.)

We pray all over New Mexico and the United States, just as Abraham, Isaac, Moses, Elijah, and Jesus all climbed mountains to meet God.You can do the same, every year 10 AM on the second Saturday in October. Even though the New Mexico Department of Transportation said the road would be closed, 50 brave-hearted souls reached the lookout point and participated in the Mass with Father Adrian Sisneros from Cerrillos, New Mexico.

“The weather was very cool this morning and warmed up as the Mass started”, one person said, “it was delightful this year, and when the sun reached over the mountain about the time of the Eucharistic prayers, the sun pierced through the clouds and warmed our body and soul to a comfortable warm feeling like being in the arms of Our Lord and Blessed Mother.“

“Mass on the Mountain” is a beautiful and uplifting experience. Just as Jesus would climb a mountain to pray, we were doing the same to keep following His journey in ourselves. Those who have attended the event said they enjoyed being closer to God in nature, and they will be ready to attend another “Mass on the Mountain” next year.
If you want to get closer to God by driving up to the ski area, remember, the ski lifts are running on this weekend because the aspens are peaking in full color. You can make this an all day event enjoying God’s creation by taking a hike from the many trailheads along the SR 475 Route.
