Mass on the Mountain brings parishioners closer to God

The purpose of the event is for us to pray over the Santa Fe Valley, New Mexico and all the Americas (from the Lookout at the Santa Fe ski base and you can see the Sandia’s, the Jemez and the Sangre de Cristo mountains, Santa Fe, Los Alamos and Espanola.
Just as Abraham, Isaac, Moses, Elijah, and Jesus all climbed mountains to meet God. You can do the same, every year at 10 AM, the second Saturday of October.“Mass on the Mountain” is a beautiful and uplifting experience. “Just as Jesus would climb a mountain to pray, we are doing the same to keep following His journey in ourselves. Those who have attended the event said they enjoyed being closer to God and nature. As you drive up the mountain leaving Santa Fe at 8:30 AM the sun is behind the mountain and people start gathering around 9:30 AM before the sun starts piercing through the aspens. By the offertory and the consecration the sun has warmed everyone with his rays. After mass many take the ski lifts to the top of the mountain and get a breath of fresh air as they see breathtaking views of God's creation. Many come back year to year to attend another “Mass on the Mountain”.
Mass on the Mountain started in 2018 by Fr Michael Niemczak and the Knights of Santa Maria de la Paz, Fr Michael had said mass with his youth group from Albuquerque’s in the past before being asked to say mass in the Santa Fe Mountains. Fr Rob Yaksich 2019, Fr Joel O Burgas 2020, Fr Jordan Sanchez 2021, Fr DJ Segura 2022, Fr Benny Sebastian 2023, Fr Adrian Sisneros 2024, and now Fr Kevin Obiesi 2025 are the priests who have taken the hike to say mass in the cathedral of aspens. This year the event is SCHEDULED to be at 10 AM October 11th, 2025 at the Lookout at the end of State Road 475, just before the Santa Fe Ski basin.
